Wireless Charging Official Statement
Apple’s new iPhone 8/+ and X (and tons of Samsung models!) have wireless charging capabilities. So, does it work with a Loopy Case? Here's what we've experienced so far:
iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X:
Works amazingly well with this Belkin charger. Has a hard time maintaining connection with this Samsung charger so we'd recommend avoiding it. Please click here to see the video. Also, it works well with both our Original and MAX lineup!
There is definitely a technique involved with wireless charging with Loopy installed. Check out our video above or here for the technique for how to place your Loopy on wireless chargers.
Qi charging with Loopy is all about finding where the Qi connection is on your device and centering it on the pad. In many cases, this is not directly in the center, so play around with it to see when it connects. From there, you need to put downward pressure to squish the loop and initiate a charge. Keep it squished for a second or so and slowly let go. Once it finds a charge a connects, it should stay connected! We have charged our phones to 100% charge using the technique in the video above, so it works!! :)
We would recommend sticking with the Belkin charger mentioned above if you do want to utilize wireless charging. If your current wireless charger does not work, you're still in luck because Loopy is so easy to un/install!
One key factor we've noticed is how big you like your loop to be and how malleable it is. Loops typically wear in over time and get comfier. To skip this break-in period, you can uninstall your loop and give it a few gentle tugs to loosen up the flex. I (Jim) was using my iPhone X on the Belkin charger without any issues until I switched out my case (and loop). I found the loop was too stiff, and after stretching my loop a tad, it went back to working like a charm! Just be sure to use the technique in our videos!
Lastly, are you using a wireless charger with your Loopy Case now? We're conducting a survey to see which chargers are working well for our customers. Please take the super short survey here.
Stay Loopy!
